In this episode of the Minute Mastery, we uncover ADHD and Entrepreneurship Strategies to help you get things done! For entrepreneurs with ADHD, staying focused and finishing what you start can feel like a daily uphill battle. But what if you could turn your mental clutter into a system for productivity and powerful public speaking?
In this week’s episode of The Minute Mastery Podcast, I sat down with Kelly Kaye Walker, an ADHD-friendly speaking coach who helps entrepreneurs transform idea overload into clear, jaw-dropping talks no memorization required.
Whether you struggle to focus, feel overwhelmed by your to-do list, or freeze up when it's time to speak, Kelly offers real tools and encouraging wisdom to help you make progress 15 minutes at a time.
Kelly introduced one of her favorite tools: the spinner list. It is a simple yet genius ADHD-friendly strategy.
Every time an idea, task, or reminder pops into your mind (as they often do with ADHD), instead of letting it hijack your focus, you write it down on a dedicated list Kelly keeps hers under her laptop.
“Once I’ve written it down, I can let it go and get back to what I was doing,” Kelly explained.
This relieves your brain from the burden of trying to remember everything. It frees up mental energy and reduces overwhelm while helping you track your ideas without losing momentum.
Tip No. 1: Avoiding the “Firehose” in Public Speaking
One common mistake Kelly sees among ADHD entrepreneurs preparing to speak? Trying to say everything at once.
“Because our brains are racing, we assume our audience needs everything we know. But they don’t.”
Her fix? Stick to three tools or lessons, and pair each with a short, relevant story. This structure helps you stay focused, keeps your audience engaged, and prevents information overload.
Tip No. 2: Breaking Down Big Goals: Baby Steps That Work
We often overestimate how much time a task will take, or underestimate how much time we do have. Kelly helped one of her clients break this pattern by analyzing her schedule and finding four free hours per day. Then, she asked her to commit to just 15 minutes a day toward her speech.
“It felt easy, so she did it and built momentum from there.”
This strategy—finding the time and committing to tiny steps helps ADHD entrepreneurs avoid paralysis and make steady progress.
Tip No. 3: ADHD-Friendly Focus Boosters.
When you are neurodivergent, public speaking can trigger imposter syndrome. Kelly shared two powerful tools for overcoming this:
Kelly’s number one productivity habit? Living by her calendar.
“If it is not on my Google Calendar, it does not happen.”
She reviews her schedule each night, blocking time not just for client sessions but for rest, errands, and her own work. This structure allows her to operate from clarity, not chaos.
Kelly’s approach is not about fixing what is “wrong” with the ADHD brain, it is about designing systems that support it. Through spinner lists, belief breakthroughs, and smart time-blocking, she shows us that focus is possible even with a racing mind.
